Duties of Poll Workers
Inspectors: $140.00 per day (Election day) $100.00 per day (Early voting)
- Chairs the precinct board and acts as manager of the precinct. With the two judges, the inspector decides all matters that come before the precinct election board.
- Picks up election supplies at least two days prior to election.
- Administers an oath to all poll workers.
- In a loud tone of voice, announces the opening and closing of the polls.
- Compares and evaluates the signature on an absentee ballot envelope with the signature on the absentee ballot application.
- May challenge voters.
- Returns all election supplies to the county election board.
Judges: $125.00 per day (Election day) $80.00 per day (Early voting)
- Assists the inspector in making decisions on matters that come before the precinct election board.
- Provide instructions to voters.
- Assists disabled voters.
- May challenge voters.
- Maintains order at the polling place.
- Check polling place to make sure that no unauthorized literature is in the polling place or within 50 feet of the entrance to the polling place.
Clerks: $100.00 per day (Election day) $60.00 per day (Early voting)
- The primary function of poll clerks is record keeping and ballot control.
- Assist voters in signing the poll lists.
- Ask voters to provide a "voter identification number".
- At a primary election, poll clerks must be sure the voter is given the proper ballot.
